Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are there any deadlines?
A: No. Requests for funding are accepted on a continuing basis throughout the year. The Haas Fund's Board meets quarterly to review requests.
Q: Which do you prefer, a letter of inquiry or a full proposal?
A: We recommend that a letter of inquiry be submitted prior to a full proposal. For instructions on what to include in your letter of inquiry, please visit the For Grantseekers section.
Q: To whom do I address my request for support?
A: Your request should be addressed to the following:
The Walter & Elise Haas Fund
One Lombard Street, Suite 305
San Francisco, CA 94111-1130
Q: What is the response timeline for a funding request?
A: Although this will vary for each request, you will usually be notified of our action within three to four months. You are welcome to call our office if you have any concerns regarding the response time of your request.
Q: What is the average size of your grants?
A: The Fund's grants range in size depending on the program area, program design, anticipated impact, and other variables. Grant amounts can vary greatly, from as little as $5,000 to, on occasions, as much as $150,000.
Q: If I submit a request to the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, will the other Haas Funds receive it also?
